Courtesy Cabin Upgrade on flights operated by LATAM Airlines

Black Signature, Black, Platinum and Gold members can request a Courtesy Cabin Upgrade on all international routes operated by LATAM Airlines.

For Black Signature and Black members the benefit is unlimited, and they receive 6 coupons per year so their travel companions can enjoy Courtesy Cabin Upgrades too. In the Platinum category, members receive 6 coupons per year and Gold category members receive 2 coupons per year, which they can share with their companions. To use this benefit, companions must travel on the same flight as the LATAM Fidelidade member, but don't need to be on the same reservation.

There are differences in fares eligible for Courtesy Cabin Upgrades depending on the category of each member:

Tickets exchanged with Multiplus points on LATAM Fidelidade are eligible and do not have fare restrictions.

You can request a Courtesy Cabin Upgrade:

  • When you Check-in for your flight on latam.com, click on the link that takes you to the page to request a Courtesy Cabin Upgrade.
  • If you did not do this at the time, select the Upgrade Request option from the LATAM Fidelidade menu.
  • If you have any problems, contact our Contact Center.

Once you have made your request, you can review your position on the Upgrade list with your information. Your priority depends on:

  1. Your Elite member category.
  2. At the time you Check-in, available 72 hours before the departure of flights operated by LATAM Airlines Brasil and Paraguay. For flights operated by LATAM Airlines in other countries, Check-in is available starting 48 hours before flight departure.

This benefit is subject to availability.

How many coupons do I need to request a Courtesy Cabin Upgrade?

Check to see how many coupons you need per leg to request a Courtesy Upgrade on each route.

Are there any restrictions to requesting a Courtesy Upgrade?

Yes. In some cases, it will not be possible to request an Upgrade. Check to see if any of these apply to you:

  • Passengers with infants (INF)
  • Passengers with pets (PET)
  • Children aged 2 to 11 years and infants (0 to 2 years)
  • Any ticket concession.

When will I receive confirmation of my Upgrade request?

Your Upgrade will be confirmed at the time of boarding on flights operated by LATAM Airlines Brazil/Paraguay. For flights operated by LATAM Airlines of other countries, if you apply for the upgrade between 12 and 48 hours beforehand, you will receive your confirmation 12 hours before your flight departure time.

If my flight has connecting routes, is the upgrade valid for all legs of my trip?

No. Your Upgrade request must be made for all legs of your trip.

What happens if my Upgrade request is not approved?

If the Upgrade request is not approved, the client's coupons are returned to them within 2 days. This way you will then be able to apply for Upgrades on other flights.

For how long are my coupons valid?

Coupons are valid for one year. You can get them renewed every year on April 1 (the year starts on April 1 and ends on March 31). Coupons are not accumulative.

What happens if I access a superior category?

If you receive a category upgrade your coupons are renewed for the number of coupons that corresponds to your new category. The balance is not accumulative, so any unused category coupons you previously held will be cancelled and you will receive new coupons that correspond to your new category.

Can I transfer the coupons?

No. No, the coupons are non-transferable.

If I get the upgrade, do I also get the business class baggage allowance?

No, the Premium Business excess baggage policy does not apply to the free cabin upgrade, it is only for trips that have been purchased or redeemed with LATAM Airlines and oneworld.
