Qualify for our Elite categories

Becoming an Elite member will be easier because we’re adding an additional option for you to access the Elite categories: accumulation of segments.

Here are the two alternatives for you to access the Elite categories:

1.- Meeting the goals of Qualification Points that you accumulate on your flights:

Qualification Points are exclusive to qualify for our Elite categories and are calculated from the dollars you spent on your ticket (minus taxes, fees and additional services) and the multiplier depending on the destination: domestic and international.

LATAM Pass Miles, which you also accumulate on your trips, can be exchanged for tickets.

Meet these earning goals and qualify for our Elite categories:

2.- With the new option to accumulate segments

To give you more alternatives to qualify for Elite categories, we’re presenting you with another option to achieve the exclusive benefits of LATAM Pass: segments per trip.

The segments will be accumulated on your trips and correspond to the route between an origin and a destination on a flight on the same airplane. To reach a new Elite category, you must combine segments that will bring you closer to achieving the exclusive benefits of LATAM.

  • We remind you that flights purchased in Premium Economy and Business cabins will accumulate twice as many segments, while flights with PROMO and BASIC fares do not accumulate segments.
You need 20 segments
You need 35 segments
You need 45 segments
You need 75 segments
You need 120 segments

Look at this example of how you will accumulate segments on your trip:

3.- What are segments?

  • The segments are the number of flights taken.

4. How do the segments earn?

Segments are accumulated by flying. It is important that you also know that based on the fare and cabin purchased, they will be accumulated as follows:

  • Flights in premium economy or premium business cabins: accumulate 2 segments
  • Economy flights purchased with Light, Plus or Top fares: accumulate 1 segment.
  • Flights purchased with a Basic or Promo fare: do not accumulate segments.

5.- What happens if my flight has a connection?

  • If your flight has a connection, it counts as 2 flights; unlike flights with a layover (where the passenger does not change planes) which count as 1 flight.

6.- Is it possible to accumulate more than one segment in the same flight?

  • Yes, flights purchased in premium economy or premium business cabins accumulate 2 segments.

7.- Can I accumulate segments by flying on other airlines?

  • As long as the flight is sold by LATAM, regardless of who operates it, you will accumulate segments. If the flight is sold by other airlines, you will not accumulate segments.

8.- To qualify, do I need to meet the two rules of qualification points and segments?

  • No, the rules are independent. You can reach the category by meeting the qualification points requirement or the segment rule, i.e., it is not necessary to comply with both rules.

9.- What is the validity period of the segments?

  • Like Qualification Points, segments are valid throughout the calendar year, i.e., for flights operated between January 1 and December 31 of the same year.

10. What are Qualification Points, and what are they for?

  • These are the points that you accumulate from January 1 of each year to reach your qualification goals for the Elite categories of the program. The goal for qualifying each Elite category (Gold, Gold Plus, Platinum, Black and Black Signature) is reflected in a number of Qualification Points.

11. Does the calculation of Qualification Points change?

  • No, Qualification Points continue with the same calculation methodology.

12. How do Qualification Points accumulate?

  • Qualification Points are accumulated from the fare paid (deducting fees, taxes and other services) by applying a multiplier that depends on the destination of the trip (domestic or international).
  • Other services are understood as the purchase of baggage, LATAM + seat, Upgrade option and others.

13. What are multipliers per route?

14. If I purchased a ticket in local currency, what exchange rate will be posted for conversion to USD?

  • In such cases, the current exchange rate at the time of ticketing shall apply.

15. Do I accumulate Qualification Points when I buy a ticket in LATAM but the flight is operated by another airline?

  • Yes, you accumulate Qualification Points on flights that are marketed by LATAM but operated by other partner companies.
  • In other words, for flights sold and marketed by LATAM, but not necessarily operated by LATAM.

16. Can I accumulate Qualification Points by flying on other airlines?

  • Yes, you can accumulate Qualification Points on other airlines as long as they are members of the oneworld alliance. Check this website for information for the associated airlines.
