The Product and its Benefits
What is the Upgrade Option product?
Upgrade Option is a new product where we offer you the option of indicating how much you would be willing to pay to fly in a superior cabin.
What benefits can I obtain from this product?
With this product you can obtain:
- Access to priority check-in
- Priority boarding.
- Access to the LATAM network of VIP Lounges.
Remember that the terms and conditions of your economy cabin ticket will remain the same (fines, refunds and the accumulation of LATAM Pass Miles, etc.).
How it works
How does purchasing the Upgrade Option work?
If you fly on a route where Upgrade Option is available and you also comply with the requirements, you will receive an email days before your flight inviting you to participate. The link in the email will take you to the offer process:
- Make an offer informing how much you are willing to pay to access a superior cabin.
- Enter your payment information. We will only charge your card if your offer is accepted.
- Review and confirm your offer.
- You will receive an email confirming your offer. You can modify or cancel your offer up to 12 hours before flight departure.
- Between 8 and 12 hours before your flight departure, we will send you an email to let you know if your offer has been accepted or not.
If your offer isn't accepted, we won't charge your credit card. This option does not affect courtesy upgrades given to LATAM Pass members. We will only be selling the remaining seats after we have allocated all loyalty program courtesy upgrades.
What do I need to be able to obtain this product?
The only requirement is that you have a paid ticket in the Economy Cabin, paid or exchanged.
The following passengers cannot obtain an upgrade:
- Passengers without an issued ticket (paid and confirmed reservation).
- Passengers flying with children under the age of 12.
- Passengers that paid for an on-board pet service.
- Passengers flying with an emotional support animal.
- Passengers flying with additional carry-on baggage.
- These passengers will not be able to access the system and place a bet. If they are able to place a bet, it will be rejected automatically.
What happens if my reservation includes various passengers?
You can make an offer. But remember that you will be making an offer for all the passengers in your reservation- in other words, the amount indicated in the system is the amount per person. For example, if you offer $100 USD and your reservation includes two passengers, the total amount you are offering is $200 USD.
When we choose the winning bets, your offer will only be considered if there is enough space for all the passengers in the Premium cabin.
On which routes in the Upgrade Option available for?
Once the product is working completely, it will be available on all LATAM Airlines flights that are operated with planes that have a Premium Business or Premium Economy cabin. Given that it is a new product, we will start with a few flights and will add new flights every month.
When can I make an offer for an upgrade?
Offers can be made from the time you purchase your ticket and up to 12 hours before flight departure.
What happens if I haven't received the email? Can I make an offer for an upgrade?
If you have not received the email, you can check to see if you are at eligible for an upgrade on the product page on our website. Simply enter your reservation code and last name and the system will check to see if your flight is eligible and if you meet the requirements to make an offer.
What happens if I cancel my subscription to Upgrade Option emails?
You will no longer receive emails inviting you to make an offer, but you can always access the product page on our website.
About Upgrade Option
Can I modify or cancel my bet once it's been made?
Yes. Bets can be modified or canceled up to 12 hours before flight departure. This can be done by using the email that confirms the offer or by going to the product page on our website.
Do I have to make an offer for all of my flights?
No, you should only make an offer on the flights you are interested in (on all or only one). If you decide you want to make an offer on other flights, go to the email we sent you inviting you to the system or log-in to the system at the product page on our website.
How much does an upgrade cost?
The passenger chooses the upgrade price. We will only indicate a range within which you should make your offer, this range will depend on your flight.
If I get the upgrade, can I choose my seat in the superior cabin?
No, the seats will be assigned according to availability in the cabin.
How can I know how much other passengers have offered?
Participants will never be able to know how much other passengers have offered.
How does this product affect my upgrade coupons?
Upgrade Option and courtesy coupons have their respective priority on LATAM. And, depending on that priority, you’ll be notified 2 or 12 hours before the flight if your upgrade is accepted. In both cases, approval is always subject to the available space in the Premium Economy or Premium Business cabin.

When I enter how much I am willing to pay, is my upgrade ensured?
No, you will only obtain your upgrade if you receive an email confirming that your offer has been accepted.
How can I increase my chances of obtaining an Upgrade Option?
The only way of increasing your changes of obtaining an upgrade is by making the highest offer.
When will I know the results of the auction?
Between 2 and 12 hours before your flight departure, we will send you an email confirming if your offer has been accepted.
What happens if I don't get the upgrade?
If the passenger doesn't obtain the upgrade, nothing will change in their flight and no charges will be made to their credit card.
If I don't get an upgrade, can I make a new offer?
Not for that flight because the offer process would have already been closed. However, passengers are welcome to make an offer on the rest of their eligible flights.
What happens if I get an upgrade and had purchased my favorite seat in the Economy Cabin?
In this case, you will be relocated to the superior cabin. We will begin the process to refund your money to you via the same method by which you canceled.
I requested an upgrade with coupons and also made an Upgrade Option offer: do I have more possibilities of getting an upgrade?
Your chances of getting an Upgrade do not improve if you make a request with courtesy coupons and via Upgrade Option at the same time, because request approval depends on the priority at the time of request and space availability in the superior cabin.
Is it possible that no passengers obtain the Upgrade Option product?
Yes, if there isn't enough space on the flight, no offers will be accepted.
Payments and refunds
Can I return or change my upgrade to another flight?
No, once the upgrade is confirmed, changes or returns cannot be made.
What happens if, once the product has been confirmed, they won't let me fly in the superior cabin at the airport? (For example, the flight has been canceled).
If you cannot obtain your upgrade due to contingencies that are our responsibility, you must call the Contact Center to have your offer refunded.
How can I pay for the product?
The product can only be paid for with a credit card.
What happens if my credit card is rejected?
If your credit card is rejected when the upgrades are granted to you, your offer will no longer be valid.
Will I earn additional airmiles for flying in a superior cabin with Upgrade Option?
No, you will not earn additional airmiles. The terms of the original ticket shall remain unaltered.
