Our new Elite category: Gold Plus

In the first quarter of 2020, Gold Plus will be the new category for LATAM Pass, created to improve benefits for our members. The main benefits will be:

  • Move up or delay your domestic flight within the same day: With this new category, you will also be able to access the entire LATAM flight network and adjust your flight so that you arrive at the time that best suits you.
  • Free carry-on bag, regardless of the fare you choose.
  • 4 Cabin Upgrade coupons in 2020.
  • Free seat selection.
  • Priority Check-in and priority boarding for both domestic and international flights.

New options for redeeming flights: Points + Money

During the second half of 2020, we’ll be launching a new way for you to redeem your airline tickets. You will have different choices and a new buying experience. We will offer you options for how you pay for your trip: cash, points, or a combination of cash and points*.

This product will be implemented gradually in the countries, according to the planning we have designed for each of them.

*Fees, taxes, charges and additional services cannot be redeemed with points and must be paid for with money.


Redemption Charge

From July 2020, depending on your destination and the advance notice you give when applying to redeem certain flights, there will a charge when they are issued. It is important that you are aware of this charge:

  • It will only apply to airline tickets redeemed 100% in points*.
  • This charge will apply to all LATAM redemption channels (latam.com, Contact center and LATAM Travel offices) and will be paid at the time of the redemption.
  • This charge will only be applied when you redeem less than 90 days before the start date of any domestic flights and less than 120 days in advance for international flights.
  • The amount of the charge will depend on whether it is a domestic or international flight.

We will always keep you informed of the prices and times in which this charge will start being effective.

Use your Upgrade coupons on domestic flights

Recently, we announced the Premium Economy cabin on our domestic flights and that we were expanding the offer of this cabin on regional flights. Now you can now use your upgrade coupons for domestic flights too. So you can always enjoy the best experience in our cabins.

To apply for this Cabin Upgrade, you will only need 1 coupon per leg.


Select your seat at no extra cost

We want to continue improving your travel experience with LATAM. Soon you will have the benefit of seat selection at no extra cost on all our domestic and international flights.

Black and Black Signature: You will maintain your benefits for all your domestic and international flight.

Platinum: You receive the benefit for all your international flights, in addition to the benefit you already had on your domestic flights.

Gold: You receive the benefit for all your national and international flights.

New Gold Plus Member Category

1.- Why is this new category being created?

  • Gold Plus is being created to improve benefits for LATAM frequent flyers.

2.- What are the benefits that I will have as a member of this category?

  • Same day domestic flight change at no cost: With this new category, you will also be able to access the entire LATAM flight network and adjust your flight so that you arrive at the time that best suits you.
  • Free carry-on bag, regardless of the fare you choose.
  • 4 cabin upgrade coupons in 2020.
  • Free seat selection.
  • Check-in and priority boarding for both domestic and international flights.
  • Earn more LATAM Pass points.

3.- How do I reach this category? How many qualifying points do I need?

  • As a LATAM Pass member, you can access our top categories by earning Qualifying Points on all your flights.
  • The number of Qualifying Points you earn depends on the dollars spent when purchasing the ticket (discounting charges, taxes and additional services) and the multiplier of the destination (domestic or international)
  • When you have earned the necessary Qualifying Points, you will reach Gold Plus category and all its benefits.
  • Details of the required Qualifying Points will be revealed shortly.

4.- How long does your category last?

  • All categories last for at least one year.

5.- When can I start enjoying these benefits?

  • From the launch date of this category, as long as you meet the requirements established to obtain it.

6.- Are the benefits applicable for all flights?

  • Depending on the benefit, this is applied to all types of flights operated by LATAM, but there are some that only apply for domestic flights (e.g., same day flight change at no cost).

New options for redeeming flights: points + Money

1.- When will it be launched?

  • It will begin to be implemented gradually in the countries, starting in the second half of 2020 and according to the planning we have designed for each of them.

2.-How does it benefit me?

  • We will introduce new redeeming features. With this new product, you may access all LATAM fares, and choose how you want to pay: with only points, only money or points and money. This way you can enjoy your next trip while spending less.

3.- How can I get my ticket with this new feature?

The process is very simple:

  • First, you choose where, on what date and in which cabin you want to travel.
  • Then, you may choose the option of paying with money, points or points and money.

4.- What will this new points plus money payment option include?

  • You will be able to access the same fares that we offer when paying with money (Promo, Basic, Light, Plus or Top). This way you can choose the fare that best suits your needs.

5.-Can I change my trip dates if my ticket was issued before this model change?

  • Tickets purchased or redeemed before the model change will follow the regulations of the time of issuance, and therefore, you may change the date if your fare allows it.

6.- Will I be able to purchase the seat with my points? What about bags?

  1. Yes, if the seat or bags are included in the fare you choose. In the event you choose to purchase a seat or a bag not included in the fare, it will not be possible to redeem points for these products.

7.-Can this redeeming be made using the App?

  • Yes, there is the possibility of redeeming tickets through the App and we will keep this feature.

Redemption Charge

1.- If I redeem on latam.com, will I be charged this fee?

  • This charge will be made if you redeem less than 90 days before the start of the trip for a domestic flight, or less than 120 days prior to an international flight. This applies to all our sales channels: Contact Center, LATAM Travel Offices and latam.com.

2.- On what date will this charge begin to take effect?

  • This charge will be implemented gradually in the countries, beginning in July 2020, according to the planning we have designed for each of them.

3.- If I redeem for 2 or more people, does the charge apply to each passenger?

  • Yes, this is a charge associated with each of the individual redemptions.

4.- Must the charge be paid only with money or can it be paid in points, too?

  • This charge should be paid in money. It will not be possible to redeem it for points.

Use your upgrade coupons on domestic flights

1.- When does this benefit apply?

  • This benefit will be available starting in March.

2.- How many coupons will I need to use it?

  • Like any upgrade request, the number of coupons needed will depend on the type of route. In this case, to apply for premium economy on domestic flights, you will need a coupon.

3.- Can I share my coupons with another person/companion?

  • You can only share your UPG coupons with another person, if they travel with the coupon holder, regardless of whether they appear on another reservation and/or cabin, and as long as they meet the conditions for applying for an upgrade.

4.- Will I be able to use my coupons on all national routes?

  • That’s right, you can use your coupons for all national destinations. The courtesy upgrade does not apply in the following cases: courtesy tickets or other free ticket promotions, reduced fare tickets, companion tickets, charter flight tickets, tickets with a discount for travel agents or airline industry employees, infant tickets, tickets purchased for articles that occupy a seat, tickets with unpublished fares (including group fares) and tickets subject to special terms and conditions.

5.- What fare should I purchase to use my coupons?

  • You should buy a ticket with the Plus or Top fares.

6.- Do I earn extra points if I travel in Premium Economy?

  • The number of points you get is determined by the multiplier of your member category and the number of dollars you spent on your ticket, excluding taxes, charges and additional services. Therefore, if you get a category upgrade on your flight, you will not earn more points.

Select your seats at no cost

1.- To what type of seats does it apply? Can I choose LATAM+?

  • This applies to any economy cabin seat, excluding LATAM+ seats.

2.- On which flights does the benefit apply? Domestic and international?

  • Applies for both domestic and international flights.

3.- Does this benefit apply to all elite categories?

  • This benefit applies to members with a category higher than or equal to Gold.

4.- When can I begin to enjoy this benefit?

  • It will be activated during the first quarter of 2020. This benefit will not be retroactive, therefore, it will apply for ticket booking and subsequent seat selection made from the date we activate this benefit.

Improvements to the LATAM App

1.- What are the new features?

We have improved our App and will continue adding new features:

  • Flight and services redemptions can be made on the App.
  • Cabin upgrade requests
  • Check the points earning options offered by LATAM Pass.
  • Now, accessing your account information is faster.
  • Soon, you will receive a notification of points accreditation per flight in your account.

2.- What’s in it for me?

  • With these new features, you will have all these options at your fingertips, you just have to enter the LATAM App.

3.- Do I have to update the App to see these changes?

  • Yes, as we integrate these features, you’ll need to update the application to start using them.

4.- Must I use the same username and password?
