The distance between Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road is just 62 miles [100 km], but the scenery couldn’t be more different. The coastal city of Torquay is the starting point for a 151-mile [243 km] winding road by the ocean with natural tunnels covered in green, impressive rock formations, and reservations filled with animals, that ends in Allansford. This road trip will definitely provide you with beautiful pictures, with a highlight to the Twelve Apostles, immense stacks separated from the cliffs by erosion caused by waves and wind, surrounded by crystal-clear waters.

What to do?

What places to visit depends on how many days you have – in a day, you can take a day trip to Melbourne, but the ideal is to dedicate two or three days. Interesting stops include Bells Beach, where a surfing competition is held every year; Great Otway National Park, to see adorable koalas clinging to eucalyptus trees; and the Grotto, a limestone formation also created by erosion, resulting in an archway through which the water flows.
