Puerto Morelos (25 miles [40 km] from Cancun) is the starting point for the route that leads to grottoes and crystal-clear freshwater pools – an alternative to the beaches in the region.
The region has a number of archaeological sites, like Chichén Itzá and Cobá. But Tulum has an added bonus: it’s located in front of the turquoise-blue Caribbean Sea, near the beautiful Playa Paraíso.
The main attractions to this long and narrow island, 30 minutes from Cancun by ferry, are Punta Sur and Playa Norte. One good idea is to rent a golf cart and explore the island.
Located 43 miles [70 km] from Cancun, this island enchants visitors with its sand roads and village atmosphere. In addition to its white sands, peacefulness and quality services, there are expeditions to swim with whale sharks.
