Landing gear

Structure on the base of the plane that absorbs the impact of landing and upon which the plane moves on ground or water.

Pushback

Maneuver in which an aircraft is pushed backwards from a boarding position to the takeoff runway, using a vehicle attached to the plane via a tow bar.

Dihedral (wings)

The upward or downward inclination of an aircraft wing from true horizontal.

Very fast and resistant model in the shape of a “T” created by Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos Dumont. He first flew the contraption in Paris in 1906, without any external help to take off – unlike the Wright Brothers, who used a catapult.
