RIO DE JANEIRO

It’s hard to be indifferent to Rio. People touching down at Santos Dumont Airport understand why right away. From above, Rio’s sunny shoreline is revealed little by little, presenting the city’s most beautiful attributes, including Guanabara Bay, the crowded beaches, Corcovado with Christ the Redeemer, which really seems to welcome visitors with open arms. Rio combines like few other places the atmosphere of a metropolis with that of a seaside city.

Beaches

The sand and sea are the same, but each point on Rio's shore has a different feel. At Leblon, framed by the Morro Dois Irmãos mountain, Posto 12 attracts a young crowd. In Ipanema, Posto 9 is the most famous and Posto 8 is a LGBT hangout. Copacabana, with its sidewalks done in Portuguese tiling, attracts foreigners. And there are also those special hideaways for people who don't mind venturing a little further: Prainha, Joatinga... But they all have the same perfect combination in common: mate tea and Biscoito Globo-- the salty snack made of manioc starch.
