Founded in 1557, Cuenca is an Ecuadorian city located at over 2,500 meters above sea level, in a valley surrounded by mountain ranges and with 4 main rivers that cross the city from west to east: Tomebamba, Yanuncay, Machángara and Tarqui. Its temperature varies between 44°F and 62°C throughout the year and rarely drops below 105.8°F or rises above 150.8°F. Its wealth lies in its architecture and culture, so in 1999 it was named World Heritage Site. Here it is possible to see buildings of colonial and neoclassical style, to visit archaeological areas, neighborhoods of handicrafts, markets, parks and to enjoy their traditional cuisine.
