An itinerary by bike through the most interesting corners of the region of Cap Cana in the Dominican Caribbean

1. Cabo San Rafael

The more adventurous can take the road that leads to Cabo San Rafael, part of which is flanked by the Atlantic. Far from the urban area, here (and also on the way to the neighboring village of San Rafael de Yuma) you’ll only find a few locals offering freshly cut coconut.

2. Scape Park

This theme park located in the center of Cap Cana offers several adventure activities, including ziplining and tours to explore caverns and grottoes. You can also swim in the famous Hoyo Azul, a cenote with turquoise waters at the bottom of a 213-foot [65 m] tall cliff.

3. Los Establos

Not too far from Playa Juanillo, horse lovers will find their private paradise: a kind of equine city with riding and polo schools, as well as luxurious stables for the animals. From January to April, Los Establos hosts Polo Challenge events, which are part of the celebrated World Polo Tour.

4. Playa Juanillo

This Caribbean beach, which extends for 3 miles [5 km], is perfect to take a break from biking and relaxing in the warm waters. Even though it’s located inside Cap Cana, Playa Juanillo is a public beach and, therefore, open to everyone. The restaurant Little John, on the sand, is a good place to recharge your batteries.

5. Hoyo Claro

Hidden in a semi-humid tropical forest, this is one of the least crowded lagoons in Punta Cana. Swimming in its crystal-clear waters is an unforgettable experience. Don’t forget to wear mosquito repellent.

6. Cap Cana Marina

From February to June, the Cap Cana Marina hosts sport fishing events whose protagonist is usually the swordfish. In addition to the maritime atmosphere, there are several restaurants and boutiques. Boats that take visitors to dive in deep waters also set sail from the marina.
